Why do split ends appear? The most common reasons are improper combing, drying hair with too hot air, improper washing, etc.
All these actions damage the cuticle, which leads to the problem.
Let's look at each error separately.
Split ends appear when, while washing your hair, the shampoo is distributed along the entire length of your hair.
The correct way is to apply the product to the scalp and massage it lightly with your fingertips. The resulting foam will be enough for the rest of the curls.
Tip! Don't ignore conditioner. It helps heal split ends and restore hair along its entire length.
Many ladies make this mistake, namely, they dry their hair with a towel. Moreover, the more active the movements, the more problems will arise. It will be correct to simply wrap your head with it and wait until the moisture is absorbed.
Here it is also important to choose this important accessory correctly. For example, massage brushes with frequent teeth can tangle curls. And further attempts to comb them lead to hair injury, which causes split ends.
The best solution would be to purchase a wide-tooth comb.
Also, it is worth implementing several rules into life:
- do not comb wet hair if it is straight;
- comb curly locks when slightly damp;
- do not use a comb often;
- if your hair gets tangled all the time, then you need to start using conditioners.
You shouldn't dry your hair with too hot air, as high temperatures can damage the cuticles. Of course, it would be better to give up the hair dryer altogether.
But if you can’t do without it, you should listen to the following advice:
- do not dry the ends. Gently dry the hair at the roots and a little in the middle;
- do not touch the curls directly with the nozzle. It is better to keep the hair dryer at a small distance from the hair;
- Dry your hair with cool air.
Try to use chemical products no more than once every 8-10 weeks.
In addition, you should not resort to procedures such as curling your hair using chemicals.
The thing is that under the influence of high temperatures, curls become brittle, which leads to the appearance of split ends.
If you can't live without these devices, try to use them no more than 1-2 times a week. You can also use heat protection, but this is the exception rather than the rule.
