For 14 years, scientists collected data on the diet of middle-aged women.

The study involved 32,000 people, who were asked every four years what, when and how much they ate.

As a result, all subjects were divided into 5 groups. The criterion was the amount of fast food and soda in their diet.

Important: scientists have classified as fast food not only dishes offered by fast food chains, but also chips, frozen ready-made meals and drinks that contain sugar substitutes.

They usually contain corn syrup and chemical additives that cause obesity and diabetes.

As a result, it was possible to establish that more than 2 thousand women from the group with a high level of fast food consumption, whose diet included many products with artificial sweeteners, showed signs of depression.

Lead researcher Andrew Chen therefore advised people who feel their mental health has worsened to eat more fresh food and prepare their own.
