Among the gestures that unite most people, the first position is undoubtedly occupied by one that everyone has done at least once in their life: nail biting.

In most cases, this is not just a “hobby”, but a real method that can help during periods of increased stress.

The gesture of bringing your hands to your mouth promotes relaxation and helps you feel less awkward.

However, unfortunately, this simple gesture over time becomes uncontrollable and is performed without awareness, turning into a real act of habit.

Of course, this is just one of many vices that you can adopt to try to relax, but once you realize that the situation is getting worse, you must correct the situation.

If it has already become a habit, but remains a sporadic action, then you can rest easy. And if the situation escalates, turning into a real mania, then this may mean that you are dealing with OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) of a mild intensity, but still needs to be kept under control.

In most cases, this occurs at a young age and disappears over the years.

However, special attention should be paid to this habit not only in relation to cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder, but also to certain diseases and inflammations that may arise as a result of such practice.

When you bite your nails, you introduce bacteria, microorganisms, germs and dirt into your mouth, which in the long run can lead to infections, inflammations, etc. That is why it is advisable to avoid this gesture by trying to keep your hands away from your mouth.
