A British woman who is just a year away from becoming a supercentenarian has revealed her 'five good rules' for living a long and happy life.

Marjorie Hodnett celebrated her 109th birthday in April 2023.

In honor of this event, the woman named several principles to journalists that she believes will be useful to younger generations.

Hodnett noted that she lived to such a respectable age because she almost never deviated from these rules.

Hodnett's principles are all about doing good. The centenarian summed up her five rules in one sentence.

"Do all the good you can: by all means, in all ways, wherever you can, for all the people you can, for as long as you can," the Express portal quotes the British woman as saying.

But from a scientific perspective, Hodnett has another secret to longevity. She had several relatives, on both her father's and mother's side, who lived to be over 100.

According to scientists, the issue of longevity is always closely linked to genetics, and only after that comes lifestyle, nutrition and psychological attitudes.

Marjorie does not make a forecast for the future and is not sure that she will be able to live to 110 years. In world practice, it is from this age that people are considered super-long-livers.

However, Hodnett noted that she still maintains an optimistic outlook on life and has an inexhaustible thirst for new knowledge.
