Why you shouldn't get the Mantoux test wet: expert commentary
Since school days, everyone knows that you can't get the Mantoux test wet. After all, the nurse always gave this instruction after the procedure.
But has anything changed over time?
Pediatrician Evgeny Timakov commented on the situation during a conversation with representatives of Lenta.ru .
He noted during a conversation with journalists that now this is just a myth.
It was really impossible to wet the Mantoux test in Soviet times, when there was a different technology. It was impossible to wet the Mantoux test in cases where it was done on the skin, but it has been done intradermally for a long time now.
Therefore, now, when a person uses the services of modern medicine, there is nothing to worry about if water gets on the test site. It is enough to just blot the place with a dry napkin, and there is no need to panic.
Timakov added that there are some contraindications, however. He noted that the area should not be rubbed, heated, steamed or rubbed.
