Dermatoscopy is a modern method of examining skin lesions. It increases the accuracy of diagnostics, making it possible to detect possible deviations at early stages.

Dermatoscopy is a painless procedure that has no contraindications.
It can be carried out:
- children;
- old people;
- pregnant women.
After talking with Lyudmila Artyushkevich, a pediatric oncologist of the 1st category at the HappyDerm medical center, it became known that timely dermatoscopy increases the chances of finding abnormalities.
The procedure is performed using a dermatoscope. It magnifies the image of skin lesions by 10-20 times. This magnification is sufficient to notice signs of melanoma that are not visible during a standard examination.
In what cases is dermatoscopy necessary?
We can recall several situations when it is necessary to go for an examination.
- Active growth of a mole.
- Its color and/or shape changes.
- The mole was damaged.
- Every year the number of moles increases.
- One of my relatives suffered from melanoma.
- Moles are constantly injured.
Things to remember
Dermoscopy is an additional examination method. The main objective is to improve the quality of diagnostics. The final diagnosis is determined only on the basis of histological examination data.
