Polish scientists have reported that physical activity helps reduce children's susceptibility to acute respiratory viral infections.

The corresponding publication appeared in the journal Pediatric Research .

Experts conducted a study involving more than 100 boys and girls aged 4 to 7 years.

All babies wore pedometers for 40 days to measure their activity levels and sleep duration. Moms and dads were asked to monitor their children's symptoms for about 60 days.

As a result, doctors noted that every increase in the daily number of steps by a thousand reduced the duration of a cold by an average of 4 days.

The effect was also enhanced if the child exercised more than three hours a week.

In addition, the authors of the study believe that the risk of infection can be reduced if the child has more physical activity.

However, the work was observational in nature, meaning that further research is needed.
