During the New Year holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate of Minsk will strengthen control over road safety.
The head of the capital's traffic police, Sergei Babich, announced this at a press conference on December 19.
His statement is cited by BELTA .
As Babich said, in anticipation of the New Year holidays, the Minsk State Traffic Inspectorate is switching to an enhanced service mode.
Traffic police officers will be brought closer to the locations of mass events.
Inspectors are aimed at preventing violations and promoting safe and comfortable movement of citizens.
In certain places, during the New Year holidays, traffic, stopping and parking of vehicles will be restricted.
The head of the Minsk State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens to take this into account and, if possible, use public transport.
Despite the fact that traffic will be limited in some areas and the streets will be free, pedestrians are not allowed to go out onto the road, Babich clarified.
He also called on pedestrians to cross the road only in designated areas and to use reflective elements.
The head of the capital's traffic police urged drivers to be careful when driving across pedestrian crossings and to choose the right speed and distance.
I would also like to remind you of the severe penalties for driving while intoxicated, Babich added.
