Very often, owners of flowerbeds strewn with tulips complain that the flowers live for 3-4 seasons.
According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , if large bulbs do not grow, and those that have bloomed are withering and dying, you should reconsider your flower care habits.
Experienced flower growers are sure that if you want to be surprised by the abundant flowering of tulips every year, you will have to “dance”.
So, after the flower has been cut, leave the tulip in the ground until the leaf turns yellow, and then dig it up.
The next step is drying until the shirt is dry. After this, the bulbs can be taken to a cool place, where the air temperature does not exceed +9 degrees.
When planting in the ground in autumn, make sure that the thermometer does not go over three degrees Celsius.
In addition, do not forget about the need for etching before planting.
A few words about the soil - each time you plant, you will have to change the soil to a new one. If you plant tulips in the same place year after year, the old one can be improved with peat, coarse sand or leaf humus. However, it is forbidden to use sawdust and wet sand.
It is worth covering not only for the winter, but also in the spring, when the snow melts and the sun warms – this way you can avoid rapid germination. Refuse any additional feeding.
