Onion stocks are a good thing, especially if you know how to preserve them. In an apartment, the vegetable can sprout, which is not so bad.

It's worse if it starts to dry out or even rots. To organize everything correctly, you need to take into account several important points.

We will tell you how to preserve the onion harvest in your apartment without losses.

First, the variety and temperature

Not all varieties of onions are stored well. If it is hot and semi-hot, then at a temperature of 0 to +2 it will lie until spring.

Sweet salad varieties are kept at temperatures from 0 to +4, but even in this case the harvest will last for 3-4 months.

Secondly, humidity

In addition to air temperature, humidity must be taken into account. When storing at a temperature of 17-23 degrees Celsius, humidity should not exceed 50-70%.

Cold storage from 0 to 3 degrees Celsius implies a humidity level of 75%.

Conclusion

To sum it up, we can say that onions will last longer in an apartment if the temperature in the place where they are stored is between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius.

The place should be shaded. But it is not recommended to store more than 10 kg of onions in one place.

The ideal option for an apartment is in wickerwork, or in nets, stockings or plastic boxes with ventilation.
