There is a reason why dishwashing sponges are multi-colored. But this is not done to attract the attention of housewives in the store and not even so that housewives do not get confused about the purpose of several sponges used at once.
In fact, they all differ in the degree of rigidity of the interlayer.
Yellow
The product will cope with removing dirt, and its hard part is considered the most gentle. This is the sponge recommended for washing thin glass glasses and other dishes.
Blue
It is considered the softest and is close in its properties to the yellow sponge. It can be used for everyday washing of dishes, including glass - does not leave damage.
But these products won’t cope with old stains.
Red (orange) color
This is already a gentle removal of dried food.
The sponge can also be used for washing and caring for enamel and Teflon surfaces. But it is not able to handle heavy carbon deposits.
Green
It is considered the toughest and therefore can not only clean off the remains of dried fat and burnt food, but even leave small scratches on delicate items.
Black
Such products are rare and are the densest.
You can remove dirt, stubborn stains and even carbon deposits, but scratches will appear.
Therefore, black sponges are most often used for household purposes – cleaning plumbing and removing limescale.
