Coming to someone's house empty-handed is considered bad manners.
Typically, they bring food or alcohol. It is also common to ask the hosts what exactly they should bring.
If you have everything you need to receive guests in your home, tell them to bring something of their own choice.
But if something is missing, you can directly tell the guests to buy this or that.
Especially if there is nothing necessary in the house – bread, napkins, etc.
There is no need to be shy and say that you don’t need to bring anything.
Guests will bring something anyway, don't make them rack their brains over what to buy.
