Almost all the mushrooms we pick in the forest are wormy.
This was reported by the Zen channel “OVERHEARD SECRETS OF A FISHERMAN” with reference to the candidate of biological sciences, mycologist Mikhail Vishnevsky.
As the scientist explained, this depends on the degree of worminess of the mushroom.
If the mushroom is only slightly wormy, it can be safely eaten after appropriate processing.
As for heavily wormy mushrooms, they are inedible and dangerous to eat.
There is an opinion that wormy mushrooms can be saved by soaking them in water, but this is not true.
Even if you remove the larvae by soaking, the mushroom will still remain toxic.
