Why the US and Canada Don't Use Baths and Showers: They Have a Third Option and Many Will Appreciate It

There are curious things in this world. Especially in everyday life. In particular, in baths and showers in people's homes.

Some may find this strange, others may find it funny, but the fact is that Americans, Canadians and Australians are not in fashion for either baths or showers.

No, no, of course they wash themselves. But they use the third option for this. Unusual for our people.

As reported by the Zen channel “Glass Tale”, we are talking about a structure called a “gangway”.

It’s a bit of a stretch to call it a “structure,” since it’s basically a shower with a shower head and mixer built into the wall, and a water collector mounted in the floor, so there’s no point in even thinking about getting to the utilities.

In the US and Canada, drains are not enclosed in any way (either glass or curtains). They are usually located in the middle or in the corner of the bathroom (so that the water flows onto the floor).

This is done in order to minimize the number of potential leaks with subsequent water flowing to the lower floors.
What is convenient about a ladder? It has no dangerous glass or doors, and you don't have to step over the edge of the bathtub or shower.

Came, went in, washed, went out (and didn't slip anywhere, since all the water stayed there), dried off and that's it. Cheap and cheerful.

By the way, in Turkey, Spain, and some other resort regions of Europe, many hotels use ladders.
