Have you ever noticed the dust on your windowsill? The amount of dirt can tell you how much dust accumulates on your heating radiators.

Perhaps there is even more of it than on the windowsill, because you probably wipe a flat horizontal surface more often than the radiator fins.

Ideally, batteries should be wiped with a damp cloth weekly, but unfortunately, there is not always time for this. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you will have to act according to the scheme below.

For cleaning you will need the following tools: a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, a bucket of water, liquid detergent, a brush for hard-to-reach places, two rags - one for wet cleaning, the second for dry, as well as an old sweater or other unnecessary thing that can be placed under the battery during cleaning.

Some housewives even use a hair dryer in the cleaning process to quickly dry washed radiators.

First, you need to vacuum up the dust using a flat crevice tool or a regular vacuum cleaner, depending on what you have.

It is important to carefully treat all areas of the radiators: between the sections, the back and bottom of the battery.

Then you should lay a sweater on the floor under the radiator to prevent water from getting on the floor while washing.

If you have cast iron radiators, fill a bucket with warm water, add a few drops of detergent and clean the space between the sections with a brush. After that, dry the radiator to avoid rust.

In the case of aluminum radiators, where the use of a brush is not possible, a steam generator can be used to remove dirt.
