How to Remove Dirt and Mold from a Washing Machine: 3 Steps to Perfect Cleanliness

Cleaning a washing machine is a task that does not necessarily require calling a professional.

Instead, using vinegar and baking soda, you can completely remove various types of stains yourself – even those that store-bought products cannot handle.

To do this, you will need to pour 2 cups of table vinegar into the drum.

After this, select the maximum temperature and turn on the appliance, and when the machine is filled with water, pause the wash.

After an hour, start the cycle again. When the device has finished its work, clean the drain filter from dirt (it is located behind a separate door at the bottom of the washing machine).

To do this, lay a towel on the floor, unscrew the filter and take it out. After you wash the filter, wipe the filter hole with a napkin soaked in vinegar and put the filter back in.

Next, you need to run the washing machine again, this time selecting a short wash cycle at the lowest temperature.

The third step is useful for those who are worried about mold inside the device.

It requires adding 1 cup of baking soda and a few drops of essential oil (such as citrus, lavender, or clary sage) to the washing machine drum.

Set the longest wash cycle and medium water temperature. After washing, do not forget to leave the door open to let the machine dry.
