An unpleasant smell in the washing machine may indicate contamination and even mold.

You can use vinegar and baking soda to clean your appliances. This "set" is suitable for removing various types of dirt that store-bought products can't always handle.

To deep clean your washing machine, pour two cups of table vinegar into the drum. Set the highest temperature setting and start the wash.

When the machine is filled with water, stop the operation of the device. Leave the washing machine in this state for one hour. During this time, the scale and sediment on the walls of the machine should separate. After an hour, start the washing cycle again.

Once the cleaning cycle is complete, clean the drain filter, which is located behind a separate door at the bottom of the machine, by pulling it out and rinsing it under running water.

Then wipe the filter opening with a cloth soaked in vinegar, put the filter back in and close the door. Run the machine again, setting it to a short cycle at the lowest temperature.

If you are concerned about mold in your washing machine, you need to perform the third stage of cleaning.

Place a cup of baking soda into the drum and add a few drops of your favorite scented essential oil (such as citrus, lavender, or clary sage).

Set the longest wash cycle, water temperature should be medium. After washing, open the drum door and leave the machine open to dry.
