Many people like to fry meat, fish, vegetables or scrambled eggs in a frying pan, but they don’t like it when oil splashes everywhere, dirtying the stove, table and clothes.

Luckily, there is one simple and effective trick that will help you avoid this unpleasant problem. All you need is salt.

Why does oil splash?

Oil splashes when frying because there is moisture on the surface of the food, which turns into steam when heated.

Steam, getting into hot oil, causes it to foam and splash.

The more moisture in the product, the stronger the splashes. Therefore, frozen or raw products are especially dangerous.

How salt helps

Salt helps reduce oil splatter when frying because it absorbs moisture and increases the boiling point of the oil.

Salt also adds flavor and aroma to foods and speeds up cooking. Salt can be added to oil or sprinkled on foods before frying.

How to use salt correctly

In order for salt to help avoid oil splashes when frying, you need to follow several rules.

1. Add only fine salt.

2. Add salt to the oil only after it is well heated, otherwise the salt may dissolve in the oil and lose its properties.

3. Add salt to the oil gradually and in small portions, stirring the oil with a spoon or slotted spoon so that the salt is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the pan.

4. Do not overdo it with salt, as this can make the products too salty. Half a teaspoon of salt per 100 ml of oil is enough.
