It is much more difficult to make sure that the rodents do not want to return.
They are especially attracted to outbuildings with animals living inside, since this fact guarantees them warm shelter and plenty of food.
If these small pests have taken a fancy to the chicken coop, it's all over: the birds risk being left without most of the food intended for them, and they can also catch a dangerous disease from the mice, and in this case the eggs will be in danger.
It is unwise to use poison in such a place: chickens, who are not particularly smart, may peck at the "delicacy", and then there will be no one to protect from mice. Even a cat does not always help.
Therefore, to combat mice in a chicken coop, it is worth taking advantage of their other weak point - namely, their overly developed sense of smell.
If you put mint, wormwood and lavender in the chicken coop, you can make life truly unbearable for rodents. By the way, it is not necessary to use dry grass - if you did not have time to stock up on plant materials, buy essential oil with a sharp smell.
In the summer, plant the listed herbs around the chicken coop - this will also help scare away unwanted guests.
