Unfortunately, not all chemical toilet cleaners are effective and safe. Some of them can damage the toilet surface, cause allergies or unpleasant odors.
Therefore, many housewives prefer to use natural and affordable products for toilet care. One of such products is bay leaf.
Bay leaf is not only a fragrant seasoning for dishes, but also a medicinal plant that has many beneficial properties.
Bay leaf contains essential oils, tannins, flavonoids and other active substances that have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, deodorizing and bleaching effects. Due to this, bay leaf is able to:
• Kill germs and fungi that can grow in the toilet and cause odor and infection.
• Remove limescale, rust and other contaminants that spoil the appearance of the toilet and impair its performance.
• Give the toilet a fresh and pleasant aroma that does not irritate the respiratory tract.
To clean a toilet with bay leaves, you will need the following ingredients:
• 10-15 bay leaves (fresh or dried)
• 1 liter of water
• 1 tablespoon of soda
• 1 tablespoon vinegar
Method of preparation and use:
1. Pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. Add bay leaf and simmer for about 15 minutes.
3. Turn off the heat and let the infusion steep for another 15 minutes.
4. Strain the infusion through a sieve or cheesecloth and pour into a spray bottle.
5. Add baking soda and vinegar to the bottle and shake well.
6. Spray the resulting solution onto the surface of the toilet, especially under the edge and inside.
7. Leave the solution to act for 10-15 minutes.
8. Scrub the toilet with a brush or sponge and flush with water.
Repeat this procedure once a week to keep your toilet clean and fresh. You can also use bay leaves to clean your sink, bathtub, and other sanitary fixtures.
