What will happen if you constantly pour ordinary water into the iron: a housewife's nightmare

If you use an iron that has a steam function, you probably know that you need to fill it not with plain tap water, but with special water, or at least distilled water.

If you do not follow this simple recommendation, be prepared for scale to form inside your iron in a short time.

It will prevent steam from escaping, leave difficult to remove stains on the clothes being ironed, and lead to rapid breakdown of the iron.

Fortunately, scale can be easily removed if you know about the destructive effect of citric acid on it.

Fill a suitable container with 300 ml of warm water and dissolve a tablespoon of lemon juice in it.

Pour the resulting solution into the iron and turn on the device so that it heats up.

When the temperature reaches the “working” level, wait a few minutes and, pressing the steam release button, thoroughly clean all the holes.

The scale will, of course, come out through the sole. While it is in a softened state, wipe it off with a clean cloth and you can admire the iron – it will be as good as new.
