Microorganisms that are dangerous to health may appear in washing machines and dishwashers.
Leading expert, head of the scientific and information support group of the Center for Molecular Diagnostics CMD of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Mikhail Lebedev spoke on this topic.
The epidemiologist pointed out that a washing machine under certain conditions can become a "home" for pathogenic microbes. Many of them feel at ease in warmth and darkness. The same applies to mold fungi.
Lebedev gave several tips that will help prevent equipment from becoming a breeding ground for dangerous microorganisms, reports the portal " Doctor Peter ".
If you use the equipment regularly, the expert recommended running self-cleaning once a month. Or set a cycle without laundry at a high temperature and using chlorine-containing products.
In addition, the expert advises to periodically treat the drum and cuff with an antiseptic. It is also important to clean the filter in a timely manner according to the instructions.
Inside the appliances that help housewives wash dishes, food particles and fat accumulate. Such debris becomes the cause of the appearance of pathogenic microorganisms.
Lebedev recommended not to close the lid after washing the dishes. The expert advised to clean the drain filter and mesh from time to time, and also to run the self-cleaning program once a month.
