How to Get Rid of Trash Can Odor: Only Time-Tested Methods

4. A great option is baking soda, which absorbs odors well and disinfects the space at the same time. You will have to periodically pour ½ cup of soda into the bottom of the bucket, but it is inexpensive.
And in order to remove the unpleasant smell that has already managed to eat into the plastic, you need to use vinegar or citric acid, which are mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio and left in a bucket for 30 minutes after cleaning.
