There is a negative belief among the people that one should not walk under pillars that are shaped like the letter “L”.
Superstitions say that those who ignore the warning risk encountering illness, failure and other troubles.
Each person has their own opinion on this matter. Some people still follow the warning, because next to each such pillar there is a trampled path that helps to bypass the "gate".
There is no consensus on where the belief came from. It arose not so long ago, compared to many other superstitions, but has become overgrown with guesses and speculations.
The first version is that the structure resembles a "horn" - a reference to the devil and the "gates of hell". A person passing under an L-shaped pillar allegedly becomes vulnerable to the machinations of Satan.
Less popular versions compare the design to a gallows and a portal.
Walking between two pillars can bring bad luck. It is believed that after this a person can twist an ankle, slip or even get hit by a car.
The belief is that frequent passage through the structure promises constant illness.
If a person passes under such a pole in a bad mood, then this threatens a family quarrel, conflict at work and general irritability. If at the same time he thinks about something bad, then negative thoughts will come true.
