With proper care, roses can stand in a vase of water for more than one week.

We'll tell you what to add to water to prolong the life of roses.

How to Keep Roses Fresh

To prolong the life of roses, you need to add a disinfectant and fertilizer to the water.

As an antiseptic, you can use apple cider vinegar (a teaspoon per liter of water), citric acid (a pinch per liter), aspirin (a tablet per liter), ammonia (two to three drops per liter), potassium permanganate (a couple of crystals per liter).

Sugar is ideal as a top dressing (a teaspoon per liter).

Sugar should only be added together with an antiseptic, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.

You can also purchase a nutrient mixture for preserving cut flowers (Vitant, Bud, Krizal).

Before putting roses in water, it is necessary to cut off the lower leaves and thorns, and also to renew the cut. It should be oblique.

It is better to renew the cut under water, for example, in a basin, so that air does not get into the stem.

The water should be cold, it should be changed at least once every two days, and preferably every day. It is also recommended to renew the cut daily.

A vase with roses should be kept away from sunlight. Other flowers should not be added to a vase with roses. Also, a vase with roses should not be placed near a basket with fruit. They emit ethylene gas, which has a detrimental effect on roses.
