Where you shouldn't store spices: they "go stale" almost immediately

Every housewife has a set of spices that are used with different frequency.

They are usually stored in a cabinet above the stove or in the refrigerator. They try to keep spices on hand so that they can be used immediately during cooking.

However, you definitely can't keep them in the refrigerator. You need to choose a place for spices that meets the following criteria:

  • dry;
  • dark;
  • air temperature is approximately +20 °C.

It is also important that there are no foreign odors nearby. It is better to store spices in a container that closes tightly.

Thus, the refrigerator and even the kitchen cabinet above the stove do not guarantee good preservation of spices.

It's best to move them to a cabinet that's away from the stove so that heat and other odors don't spoil the additives.

Spices should be stored for no more than 2 months. If Provencal herbs, thyme and other culinary additives are stored for six months or more, then they are useless products. They no longer have any taste or smell.
