A spider is a common inhabitant of wildlife. There are a huge number of species on the planet.

They are found in gardens and houses and are safe for humans. Spiders feed on other insects - flies, midges and mosquitoes. But when we often see them - it is annoying.

Spiders in the premises

They are divided into three types: long-legged harvestman spiders, wandering spiders that do not weave webs, and small black or gray house spiders of 1.5 cm in size.

They get into the house through window vents, cracks in the floor or climb down from the attic. They live in dust, dark and damp places.

Spiders don't live where people keep things clean.

Most often they live in utility rooms, empty storage rooms, and sheds.

Garden spiders are the best helpers. They catch various insects, caterpillars, leaf rollers, aphids, bugs and many other pests.

Spiders that do not live on trees and bushes, but settle on the ground, are called tarantulas. During the day they sit in holes, and at night they wait for insects outside at the entrance. They are active from early spring until the beginning of winter.

Tarantulas spend the winter in a hole, closing the entrance, and when it gets warmer, they open it. When this spider is touched, it can jump 10 cm high and bite. The bite site is very painful and in many cases causes fever, so you should not come into contact with it.

How to get rid of spiders

To avoid encountering spiders, you can take the following measures.
• Carry out regular and thorough cleaning of the premises.
• Repair old buildings; spiders don’t like the smell of paint and glue.
• They can also be repelled by citrus smells. Place orange or lemon peels everywhere and you will no longer see spiders.
• Add a few drops of peppermint oil to water and spray it on the places where spiders live. Apply this oil or tea tree or eucalyptus oil to a sponge and wipe the baseboards in the rooms with it.
• Cover windows with mosquito nets.
• In greenhouses, regularly clean secluded corners from cobwebs.
• Plant plenty of peppermint in gardens to repel spiders.
• To destroy tarantulas, purchase special chemicals.
