Modern housewives are not familiar with the word "deficit". In stores, shelves are abundant with food products, household chemicals and other developments that simplify everyday life.
In the old days it was more difficult, but housewives did not lose heart and passed on folk remedies from mouth to mouth. For example, how to wash the stove less often.
Nothing in the kitchen gets dirty as quickly as the stove or hob.
During frying, boiling and stewing, splashes of fat fly, the escaping dishes freeze on the glossy surface, and then you have to scrub it all off for a long time and tediously. First the dirt, and then the detergents.
In Soviet times, housewives solved this problem for themselves using ordinary Vaseline. They applied it to a suitable rag and spread it evenly over the surface of the stove.
Vaseline perfectly protects the surface from all the consequences of culinary disasters, but most importantly, it prevents dirt from eating into the surface.
Even if splashes and grease get on the stove, it will be much easier to wash them off than if the stove had not been treated.
In addition to Vaseline, Soviet and modern housewives use soda for the same purpose.
It was sprinkled in an even layer around the burners, and at the end of cooking, all that was left was to simply brush off the powder with a damp cloth.
