Sometimes folk remedies really work just as well as industrial insect repellents.
Their obvious advantage is their natural origin and the possibility of using them where food products are stored, which is impossible when using chemicals.
You can drive ants out of your home kitchen or other premises using:
1. The most pleasant way to fight ants is to place repellents made of cotton wool soaked in mint, eucalyptus, lavender or fir oil. Such products have one drawback - the aroma lasts for a couple of days, then needs to be renewed.
2. Soap solution and garlic act almost the same as essential oil, only the cloves need to be peeled and crushed into a pulp. The smell confuses insects and disorients them in space.
3. You can use soda, but it only helps if the ants are in contact with it for a long time. It is scattered in a thin layer on the insects' paths, mixed with powdered sugar or honey and placed where the pests appear.
4. Vinegar is used in the same way as ammonia. The smell repels ants equally well. They can be used to treat insect paths, or to spray surfaces from a spray bottle, but it is best to find and treat the ant colony.
Then ammonia or vinegar is simply poured into the anthill, which kills the queen and larvae.
