How to open a "tight jar" in two counts: don't ruin knives and lids

Sometimes even weightlifters can't open cans with screw caps. Obeying the laws of physics, the lid seems to grow together with the jar, and then improvised means come into play.

But this can ruin the knife or the lid, which, having bent, will no longer be able to close the container tightly. There are options for this case.

Usually in such a situation they try to pry the lid off with a knife, shove the jar under a stream of hot water, or hit the bottom until a characteristic click is heard.

What's good about the method suggested below is its simplicity. That is, it will help out when there is nothing at hand at all - hot water, a lighter, oil, a key or a knife.

How to proceed

You'll have to do it with your bare hands. Literally. But it's better to put on rubber gloves or at least take a towel so your hands don't slip.

Next, take hold of the lid with your left hand. Try to turn it counterclockwise with all your might, pressing from above.

At the same time, rotate the jar clockwise with your right hand.

The procedure will have to be repeated 3-4 times, but after such exercises the lid will not withstand and will give in to your persistence.
