How to extend the life of flower bouquets: florists named unexpected methods
Housewives who receive a bouquet of flowers as a gift resort to all sorts of tricks in order to prolong the life of this beauty.
But florists warned that not all folk remedies work well. Some of them are useless.
For example, sugar and aspirin are of no particular use. Even without these folk remedies, flowers will last longer if you place them in a clean vase, pour in quality water and make an oblique cut of the stem.
But florists point out that flowers do like extras. Some of them may seem strange and unexpected.
How to prolong the life of flowers
1. Alcohol has a positive effect on many flowers, especially cut orchids. Add just 20 g of vodka, and the flowers will last longer.
Why is sugar not effective? Because it creates an environment in which bacteria that kill the flower develop.
2. Mineral water contains carbon dioxide, which, when interacting with flowers, prolongs their life.
3. The bouquet will last longer if you create optimal conditions. They cannot be achieved if the flowers are near a hot radiator or heater.
It is also not recommended to place a bouquet near fruits. Fruits emit ethylene, which causes flowers to fade faster.
