Enamelware does not pretend to be something refined and elegant, and perhaps that is why it is not treated with due attention.

We will tell you what mistakes lead to the enamel, and along with it the saucepan itself, becoming unusable very soon.

The following tips will help extend the life of enamel-coated pots and teapots.

1. Before using a new pan, it must be filled with cold water and then brought to a boil – this is necessary to harden the coating.

2. But even after this, enameled utensils will not last long if you constantly allow temperature changes. Overcooling or overheating leads to the enamel starting to crack or split. This primarily concerns teapots, in which water sometimes boils away on the stove.

3. When cooking in enamel cookware, you need to make sure that the fire does not spread beyond the bottom of the pan or teapot.

4. The habit of placing pots with cold contents on a hot stove will also shorten the life of the product.

5. A pot with cooked and hot food should first cool on the stove and only then can it be placed on stands.

6. To clean burnt food, sprinkle the damaged areas with salt, then add water and leave to soak.

7. If you need to clean off the grey coating, it will be easier to make dried fruit compote or jelly.

8. For washing enameled dishes, a mixture of vinegar, salt and baking soda with added water is most often used.
