Every experienced housewife has a box of soda ash in her bathroom. It costs pennies, but it can help out in at least four situations for which inexperienced housewives buy expensive household chemicals.
Here's how to use washing soda properly.
The powder will help out if you need to tidy up yellowed things or bed linen. Soda is used for soaking - 3-5 tbsp. per medium basin of water. After soaking, the things are washed in the usual way. You can immediately add soda when washing, mixing it with washing powder.
Soda can restore plumbing fixtures that have lost their former whiteness. The only exception is acrylic bathtubs. To clean a sink, toilet or enamel bathtub, you need to dissolve soda in a small amount of water, apply this paste to the surface, leave for 30-40 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Calcined soda will dissolve grease and dirt in sewer pipes or siphons. To do this, dissolve 3-4 tablespoons of powder in a glass of boiling water, pour it into the drain hole or simply pour in the soda and pour boiling water. After 15-20 minutes, everything needs to be washed with plenty of hot water.
Calcined soda can be used to clean ceramics and tiles. To clean tiles in the bathroom or kitchen, dissolve 3-4 tablespoons of soda in 1 liter of warm water, apply to the dirty surface from a spray bottle and clean with a sponge after 5 minutes.
You can also use this solution to wash dishes and even fine porcelain.
