Residents of Belarus have been warned: the autumn that has just begun carries potential threats in the form of the coronavirus that has been present in the world until now.
In addition, three other very dangerous viruses may be added to it in the autumn period.
This was reported by the chief freelance infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Igor Karpov.
The interview with him was published by the department’s press service (in video format).
The professor noted that this is a period in which citizens are adapting to changes in climate and social conditions (schoolchildren and students have gone to school, adults are returning from vacation).
And that is why we again and again remember the problem of acute respiratory diseases transmitted by airborne droplets, the specialist said.
According to him, the main danger for Belarusians this fall is COVID-19, adenovirus, rhinovirus and respiratory syncytial virus.
All these incidents traditionally occur in the autumn, the infectious disease specialist noted.
He also reported that the coronavirus “has become a little different,” which is due to its numerous mutations.
Karpov says that the virus is concentrated mainly in the upper respiratory tract, and to a lesser extent in the lungs.
As a rule, it occurs in the form of acute respiratory viral infections, noted the representative of the Ministry of Health.
The expert drew the attention of Belarusians to the fact that the risk group includes elderly people and those with chronic diseases, including heart disease.
In addition, Belarusians with diabetes, weak immunity and some other health-related problems are at risk.
