"Hi, is that you in the photo?": A new type of fraud via Telegram has been revealed - be careful

Fraudsters have found a new way to deceive mobile device owners.

The attackers operate through the popular Telegram messenger.

They send the user a dangerous file and the following message: "Hi, is that you in the photo?"

The scammers are counting on the fact that a person will want to see the “photograph” and download the file.

Don't do this under any circumstances.

After downloading the file, you will not receive a photo that supposedly depicts you, but a malicious program.

So, be careful if you receive a message saying "Hi, is that you in the photo?" with an attached file.

If you receive such a message, do not download the files under any circumstances! - MIA " Russia Today " quotes from the publication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The department reminded that photos cannot have an APK extension.

But it is precisely this format of file that scammers send to users via the Telegram messenger.
