The best Belarusian tennis player of recent years, Aryna Sabalenka, finished the current season as the world's number one tennis player.
This follows from the updated ranking of the Women's World Tennis Association (WTA).
Adjustments were made to the prestigious list after the completion of the final tournament in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
By the way, at these competitions Arina only reached the semi-finals. In the fight for the main match of the tournament she lost to the American Cori Gauff (3rd racket of the world).
The Polish Iga Swietnek finished the season in second place in the ranking of the best tennis players.
As for other Belarusians, Victoria Azarenka remained in 20th place, and Alexandra Sasnovich is in 98th place.
According to the WTA, Sabalenka will receive $1.035 million in prize money following the tournament in Riyadh.
Swiatek and Czech Barbora Krejcikova (10th place in the ranking) earned the same amount in these competitions.
The tournament winner Cori Gauff earned $4.805 million, and the Chinese Zheng Qinwen (5th place), whom she beat in the final, earned $2.305 million.
The total prize fund for this year's competition was a record-breaking $15.25 million.
Let us add that Aryna Sabalenka earned $9.73 million in prize money for the entire current season.
