ISU makes decision on Belarusian participation in 2026 Olympic selection

The International Skating Union (ISU) has made a decision on the participation of Belarusians in the selection for the 2026 Olympic Games.

The decision is positive. The athletes are admitted. But with one condition: they must compete in the qualification in a neutral status.

The Belta agency reported this with reference to a document distributed by the organization’s press service.

It is known from the details that the ISU Council decided to be guided by the experience of the IOC on this issue.

Let us recall that the International Olympic Committee allows the participation of Belarusians and Russians in competitions held under its auspices, in a neutral status.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Italy.

The Belarusian Skating Union must submit applications for participation of its representatives in the qualifying competitions no later than February 28, 2025.

The figure skating qualification will take place in September next year in Beijing.

The selection in short track will take place at the World Tour stages in Montreal, Salt Lake City, Gdansk and Dordrecht.

These competitions will be held from October 16 to November 30, 2025.

Qualification for speed skaters: World Cup stages in Salt Lake City, Calgary, Heerenveen and Hamar.

The selection is scheduled for the period from November 14 to December 14 next year.
