The leaders of the Western Conference met in the KHL: how SKA and Lokomotiv played

An important match took place as part of the KHL regular championship - a meeting between two leaders of the Western Conference.

The game took place in Saint Petersburg. The local SKA hosted the Lokomotiv team from Yaroslavl.

Before the match, Yaroslavl had 5 wins in a row, while St. Petersburg had 7.

The game resulted in Lokomotiv continuing its winning streak. But the army team from the Northern capital of Russia will have to start all over again.

In other words, the game ended with a victory for the guests. The score was 3:2 in favor of the club from Yaroslavl, TASS reports.

In the fifth minute, two goals were scored at once. The goals were scored by Alexander Polunin (Lokomotiv) and Ivan Demidov (SKA).

Ten minutes later, Alexander Radulov put the Yaroslavl club ahead. However, the score soon became equal again: the puck was scored by SKA hockey player Evgeny Kuznetsov.

However, already in the 17th minute, Lokomotiv player Maxim Shalunov scored the winning goal.

There were no goals scored in the second and third periods.

The match ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of Lokomotiv.

Tournament standings in the KHL

The victory allowed the Yaroslavl club to consolidate its position in first place in the Western Conference standings. Lokomotiv has 38 points earned in 22 games.

Next comes St. Petersburg SKA: 31 points in 22 games.

The top three leaders of the West are completed by Moscow Spartak: 27 points in 20 matches.

The leader of the Eastern Conference is Chelyabinsk's Traktor: 34 points in 22 games. The top 3 of the East also includes Yekaterinburg's Avtomobilist and Kazan's Ak Bars.
