Four-time Olympic swimming medalist Vladimir Bure has died at the age of 73.

This was reported by MIA "Russia Today" with reference to a message on social networks from the wife of the "Russian rocket" Pavel Bure - Alina Bure.

According to the information she published, Vladimir Bure died on September 3.

Let us add that the father of two hockey-playing brothers won a silver and two bronze medals at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Mexico City, he won bronze.

After finishing his professional career in 1979, Vladimir worked as a swimming coach for the next six years.

After moving to the United States with his sons, he became Pavel's personal physical trainer.

In this position, he first worked on the coaching staff of the Vancouver Canucks, and since 1999, with the New Jersey Devils.

In 2010, Vladimir Bure returned to Russia, where he worked for two years as vice-president of CSKA.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as a physical training coach for the Belarusian national hockey team.

In 2017, Bure Sr. suffered a stroke. For this reason, the outstanding athlete decided to end his coaching career.
