Will Belarusians have enough tangerines for the New Year? The head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade made a statement

New Year is just around the corner, and people are buying up tangerines en masse. Will there be enough for all Belarusians to celebrate?
The answer to this question was given by the head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, Alexey Bogdanov.
As the minister reported on the Belarus 1 TV channel, in the outgoing year Belarus imported 1,000 tons less tangerines and clementines from Turkey.
However, he added, the country has enough suppliers overall. Tangerines are imported from 15 countries.
Enough for everyone
Over the 10 months of 2024, 7% more of this product was delivered to the republic, which is 16,500 tons.
According to the head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, prices for tangerines have fallen by 14%, which means the following: “in other countries the harvest was better than in Turkey.”
Hence the following conclusion: Minsk imported tangerines “a little cheaper.”
Therefore, there is no need to worry in any case, there will be enough tangerines on the shelves for everyone, as well as other goods, Bogdanov assured.
Price increases
Regarding the issue of rising prices for goods for the New Year, the minister noted: “it’s different every time.
He noted that the situation depends on the formation of consumer demand and “market conditions on the external contour.”
He also said that after the introduction of price regulation in the country, “goods became more or less stable.”
Therefore, if something does become more expensive, it is “predictable,” the head of the department noted.
What are prices rising for?
Before price regulation, Bogdanov said, alcohol, chocolate, and confectionery products traditionally became more expensive.
Also noted during such periods was an increase in prices for some imported products, in particular bananas, oranges, and grapes.
Regarding Belarusian goods, the minister says that the situation is “more stable”; there is no surge in prices, which are within the government’s forecast.
You can have no doubts, but come and buy any product. It will be at a fair price and accessible to every wallet, Bogdanov promised.
