From January 1 of next year, the procedure for applying for an old-age pension will change in Belarus.
The press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reminded about this on Telegram.
At the end of October, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on social support, which, among other things, provides for a simplified procedure for applying for a pension. The new rules will come into force on January 1.
As the Ministry of Labor explained, currently an application for a pension is submitted on the day the right to it is acquired (on the day the citizen reaches retirement age).
From January 1, it will be possible to apply for a pension both one month before the right to it arises and within one month after.
If this period is met, the pension will be assigned from the day the right to it arises; if later, from the day of application.
The department clarified that the changes do not apply to survivor's pensions and disability pensions (which can be received for the past period).
