Today, programmers are in particular demand among employers on the Belarusian labor market.

This is not surprising, considering that we are living in the age of technology, automated systems, network communications and global computerization.

It’s hard for some to imagine how people could live without all this in the past.

Software as a source of almost everything

Software underlies virtually every area of human activity.

Trade, business, medicine, education, agriculture, sports, culture, journalism.

And also construction, housing and communal services, industry, aviation, tourism, logistics, mechanical engineering - all of this functions thanks to the work of programmers, among others.

Well, there is no need to even talk about the IT industry.

What exactly do Belarusian programmers do? What is the specificity of their activities? This is discussed below.

Who is a programmer?

Someone who creates computer programs, that is, programs, sets specific algorithms of actions, ensures their normal functioning, develops and improves them.

Artificial intelligence with advanced neural networks is also the work of a programmer.

He, a programmer, is the creator of the technology for teaching machines based on Big Data, augmented reality technology, etc.

The products created by specialists – from modeling programs to AI – are in high demand from society.

In our daily lives, we constantly encounter the fruits of a programmer's labor. For example, the same laptops, smartphones, smart TVs, "smart bracelets", voice assistants, etc.

Specifics of work

It is not uncommon to come across the title "software engineer" in post-Soviet countries. This tradition has its roots in the USSR.

The fact is that in those days, virtually every specialist involved in design was classified as an “engineer.”

Yes, to a certain extent, a programmer, when writing codes according to pre-set algorithms, is somewhat reminiscent of an engineer.

But we shouldn’t forget that the same programmer can create these codes independently, from scratch.

In the West, by the way, there is a special name for such specialists – coders.

Specialized areas

The specifics of a programmer's work are not limited to this. It is so broad that it divides professionals into highly specialized ones.

Programmers include software developers who create databases, control systems, complex programs, etc.

There are also system developers – they create an environment for the operation of various programs, for example, OS for computers or smartphones.

Even more narrowly focused specialists include website and application developers, as well as developers of artificial intelligence technologies.

Salaries

Judging by the vacancies in the database of the state employment service, in Belarus programmers are hired, among other things, for the minimum possible salary of 626 rubles.

The maximum salaries indicated in job offers reach 5,000 rubles.

Most often, a Belarusian programmer is promised a salary of 1,600 to 1,800 rubles.

Who pays the "minimum"? We are talking about software engineers here.

Salaries of 626 rubles are provided to them by Secondary School No. 9 in Slutsk, Secondary School No. 16 in Baranovichi, and Ozershchinskaya Secondary School No. 1.
