A national-scale campaign called "Give the forest new life!" took place in Belarus.

The event is organized and held in the regions affected by the natural disaster in the summer of 2024. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko and his delegation took part in the event in the Bykhov district.

Bykhov district bore the brunt of the natural disaster in the Mogilev region and is considered the worst hit in the region, BELTA reports.

As Roman Golovchenko noted, the scale of the damage was large and therefore there is a lot of work to restore the forest here.

At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that Belarusians demonstrated their concern for nature during the event.

The scale of our people's involvement is very impressive. Today, when we were planting the forest, we talked to local forestry employees: they say that people themselves call the forestry hotline and ask if they can come. Families come, too, - said Roman Golovchenko.

The republican action lasted a month. More than 70 thousand people took part in it.

Forestry workers, volunteers, representatives of public associations, ministries and departments, senior officials were involved, and there were also shock workers who planted 2 hectares of forest.

As a result, about 5 thousand hectares of forest plantations were restored, which is more than 34 million seedlings.

The figure is impressive. Although I remember in August, when the Minister of Forestry reported to the President, he said that we would hardly plant more than 27 million seedlings – there would not be such a quantity. But we have already exceeded 34 million. Foresters have provided us with seedlings for the full need, – the Prime Minister noted.
