Four powerful flares occurred on the Sun on the night of this Friday, November 1.

Moreover, scientists classified one of them as belonging to the highest class, that is, it was the most powerful according to the existing scale.

The event was reported by the TASS agency, citing representatives of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (Federal State Budgetary Institution “IPG”).

Earlier, information was received about the X1.3 flare. Scientists specified its power taking into account the updated data.

An X2.0 flare lasting 15 minutes was recorded in sunspot group 3878 (N16E29), the report says.

Later, the Institute of Applied Geophysics reported that on the night of November 1, three more flares occurred on the Sun – class M.

At the same time, one of them, in terms of its power, approached the highest class – X.

On November 1 at 00:54 Moscow time, an M9.5 flare lasting 55 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 3878 (N15E26), the scientists said.

The fourth outbreak, class M, took place on Friday morning, the Institute added.

It is worth mentioning that flares often lead to the release of solar plasma, clouds of which, reaching the Earth, can cause magnetic storms.
