Last weekend, snow cover formed in a number of regions of Belarus.
According to weather forecasters, the snow will not stay for long; warm air from the Atlantic will arrive in the coming days.
According to BelTA , citing Belhydromet, in Belarus, snow cover lasts from 62 days in the southwestern regions to 113 days in the northeastern regions. During the winter, it is destroyed and formed again several times.
A stable snow cover, lasting at least a month, forms in December.
In the north-eastern regions this occurs in the first half of December, in the south-western regions – at the very end of the month.
However, the dates vary greatly from year to year depending on the weather conditions. Sometimes stable snow cover occurs as early as the end of October.
At the same time, there were winters when stable snow cover occurred at the end of January – beginning of February, Belhydromet added.
