A big weekend has started in Belarus. And along with it, a five-day special preventive event by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
It involves carrying out raids across the country with the aim of preventing and suppressing drunk driving and driving without a license.
The press service of the Minsk State Traffic Inspectorate reported this on its official Telegram channel.
But it is not only drivers that will be closely monitored by inspectors during these five days. Pedestrians, especially those who are drunk, will also be in their field of vision.
Violators from among drivers, that is, those who are caught "under the influence", will be held accountable. As will those without a license.
Pedestrians caught in a state of intoxication and violating traffic regulations will not escape responsibility.
The State Traffic Inspectorate will also carry out covert and mixed control over road users.
And in the Vitebsk region, in addition to the above-mentioned citizens, they will be especially careful to watch those who like to make sharp, risky overtaking movements in violation of traffic rules.
Belarusians were reminded: driving a car without a driver's license or handing it over to someone who does not have one is punishable by a fine of 200 to 800 rubles.
If a similar violation is committed again within a year, the fine increases by an amount ranging from 800 to 2,000 rubles.
In addition, a malicious violator faces administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
And if a person commits such a violation for the third time in a year, he may be sent to community service, fined, or sent to correctional labor for six months.
They can also arrest you and deprive you of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain types of activities.
As for overtaking, it is prohibited:
– at designated and regulated intersections, pedestrian crossings and closer than 50 meters from them in both directions;
– at railway crossings and closer than 100 meters from them;
– on overpasses and under them;
– at the end of an ascent and on other road sections with limited visibility;
– in conditions of poor visibility, for example, in fog, snowfall, etc.
For violating the rules of overtaking or driving into oncoming traffic in cases where this is prohibited, you can be fined up to 400 rubles and deprived of your driver's license for 1 year.
