Messenger Telegram has changed its terms of service and will disclose users' phone numbers and IP addresses upon request from law enforcement agencies.
The founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov, announced this on his Telegram channel.
The entrepreneur said that due to some users abusing the search function to sell illegal goods, the Telegram team made the function safer and removed all problematic content.
According to him, Telegram has changed its privacy policy and terms of service.
Now the messenger will disclose users' phone numbers and IP addresses upon reasonable legal requests from the relevant authorities.
These measures should deter criminals, Durov said.
The businessman also called on users to report illegal content.
