The growing level of digital literacy among the law-abiding part of the population forces fraudsters to hone their skills and resort to new tricks.

In this regard, law enforcement officers have addressed Belarusians with a warning about the increased activity of criminals on the social network Instagram.

Almost 40% of cases of fraud on the Internet involve the sale of non-existent goods or the provision of unrealistic services, warns the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

Moreover, more than a third of such contacts are on the popular social network Instagram.

Victims are offered to buy gadgets, branded clothing and even vehicles at low prices.

At the same time, fraudsters take into account seasonal offers. Currently, artificial fir trees, car tires and winter clothing are appearing on "sale".

At the same time, calls from “law enforcement officers,” “bank specialists,” and fake calls from management have not lost their relevance.

In such cases, fraudsters force their victims to take out a loan and transfer funds to controlled accounts.

With the same success, attackers pose as friends or relatives and try to borrow money, use hacked accounts in instant messengers, distributing phishing links.

Most often in such cases they ask to vote in competitions. When following such a link and entering the password, the account owner provides the scammers with access to all contacts.
