Fraudsters in Belarus have even gone so far as to start sending citizens messages from the fictitious “Central Electoral Commission of the USSR.”
Of course, this is a fake. The press service of the Ministry of Information of the Republic warns about this in its official telegram channel.
The agency draws attention to the fact that in such mailings people are advised to vote in the referendum and elections to the Councils of People's Deputies of the USSR.
Citizens are informed that the “voting” will take place from November 21 to 24 of this year.
The mailings also contain lists of non-existent districts and fictitious candidates.
The scammers claim that the “voting” for “deputies” will be conducted in electronic format, and therefore suggest following the link provided.
The ministry emphasized that no elections to the “Councils of People’s Deputies of the USSR” are being held in Belarus.
These letters are a clear example of disinformation and provocation aimed at destabilizing public order, the department explained.
And they added: following the links provided by the scammers may damage the user’s devices and lead to the loss of personal data.
Observe information hygiene! Be vigilant and do not trust such messages! – the Ministry of Information calls.
