Almost 60,000 new cases of cancer are identified in Belarus every year.
This was reported by the director of the Alexandrov Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology, Sergei Polyakov.
His statement is cited by BELTA .
As Polyakov explained, over the last twenty years there has been an increase in the number of newly identified cases of malignant neoplasms. This trend is observed in many countries.
We are gradually approaching 60,000 newly diagnosed patients annually, said the head of the RSPC.
According to him, this indicates that early diagnosis and diagnostics in general in Belarus are at a fairly high level.
According to statistics, the most common type of cancer among women is breast cancer, and among men, prostate cancer. This is a global trend.
Despite the increase in morbidity, the head of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center added, the mortality rate remains almost unchanged.
Of course, we would like to reduce it, but those who get sick again do not always have early forms, Polyakov summed up.
